The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

My co-worker recently finished reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyers and really enjoyed it.  This novella gives a different perspective of the newborn vampires that Victoria created in the Twilight Saga.  For instants, the newborn vampires are completely unaware of the fact that they are going to be used as pawns in Victoria’s battle.  All Bree knows, is that she needs to stay alive (as much as possible for the undead) and not be noticed in the group.  However, she does befriend another newborn, Diego, which helps her to remember that she isn’t a complete monster who is only driven by her thirst.  The two soon attempt to learn more about their creator, and eventual have to decide which side of the war they will fight for.  I was also told that the novella has a good ending even though we know what is going to happen to Bree before we begin the book.  My co-worker found it especially interesting when Meyer explained in the introduction how she was unable to forget her character Bree, and eventually had to tell her story.  Overall, this was an excellent new perspective to add to the Twilight Saga.
