Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer is an incredible young adult science fiction read. Miranda has to learn to exist in a world where mother nature has become violent after a meteor hits the moon causing it to move closer to earth. Supplies are limited after earthquakes and tsunamis begin to destroy civilization, and an arctic winter has settled in. Living in this new environment is becoming much more challenging.
This is the kind of book that will really get you thinking about how you would survive if this were to happen; the whole premise of the story seems very plausible. Pfeffer does a great job of keeping you glued to the book with her characters and the events that they must endure. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself running out to pick up the second book to see how the story continues.
