Her Royal Spyness

I have been loving Rhys Bowen’s Royal Spyness series. The first book in the series is Her Royal Spyness. Lady Georgiana (Georgie to her friends and family) is 34th in line to the throne of England. Her family lost all their money in the crash of 1929 and now she is trying to figure out what to do with her life. Georgie has no desire to marry for money, even though that is what is expected of her. Before long her grandmother Queen Victoria sends her off to spy on her son – so she begins her spying career.

This was an entertaining historical mystery that takes place during the 1930’s in Great Britain. Bowen captures the atmosphere the time period and location so well. I loved reading about the fashions, the historical figures and the new inventions of the time. This is such a great era to read about since the world is constantly changing politically. Georgie is such a fun character, she is feisty and resilient. No task is too small for her, whether that means tracking down murderers or starting a cleaning business just to get by. Her Royal Spyness series is a great escape read that is full of charm.

Rhys Bowen will be attending this year Tucson Festival of Books on March 14th and 15th, so this is the perfect time to start reading her books.

Tucson Festival of Books 2014 Wrap-Up

We had another fabulous book festival this year.  Our booth had almost 50 authors for book signings and it was wonderful.  We would like to thank all of the amazing authors who join as well as all of our staff and volunteers.  Here is a brief look at who was at our booth.  Some of the authors were missed in pictures because sometimes things were just a little crazy.
